Dubai, the shopping capital of the Middle East has chosen India as the first country for M-visa services (Mobile Visa). It has taken this initiative in a bid to simplify visa procedures and attract more visitors, The ‘Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department’ (DNRD), is ready to implement services with immediate effect. M-visa services will be provided to Indian travellers visiting Dubai for the ‘Arabian travel market’ exhibition (ATM) taking place on a trial basis.
Monitor Kulwant Singh, Managing Director, Lama Desert Tourism, said, “M-Visa service will provide convenient, security, and quick visa facilitation via web and mobile phones to the travellers visiting Dubai. India has been selected as the first country for M-Visa service and this shows the importance of India as a tourism and trade market for Dubai”.
DNRD began working on the M-Visa project since 2007 and will be assigning more travel service providers to facilitate M-Visa services across the world. In order to avail the M-Visa facility one has to register and pay extra charges. However, during its initial stages, the M-Visa notifications will be sent only to the Indian travel service provider of the passenger travelling to Dubai and not directly to the passenger to avoid the misuse of M-Visa.
