Konkan Railway (KR) that runs along the Konkan coast of India will now be operating 3 special Ahmedabad-Madgaon-Ahmedabad trains in order to clear the extra rush during the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations (11 September – 21 September).
“Taking into account heavy rush in trains during Ganpati Festival, we will run a special train Sep 6-17," said a Konkan Railway spokesperson.
While, the Ahmedabad-Madgaon train will run on September 6, 9 and 16, the Madgaon-Ahmedabad train will run on Sep 7, 10, and 17. The train (0921A from Ahmedabad to Madgaon and 0922A from Madgaon to Ahmedabad) will halt at Vadodara, Surat, Valsad in Gujarat and Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Veer and other key places in Maharashtra. The train will have 15 coaches, comprising 8 sleeper coaches, 2 three-tier air conditioned coaches, 1 two-tier air conditioned coach, 2 general coaches and a ladies' coach.
The railway line operated by the Konkan Railway Corporation recently announced 14 special 15-car trains between Dadar and Sawantwadi, 7 each to and from Sawantwadi. The car trains that will sport reserved coaches, air-conditioned coaches and general compartments will run between Dadar and Sawantwadi and back on September 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24 and 26.
