Bangalore: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a specially designed air-conditioned Mercedes-Benz bus which is known for luxury and comfort. It’s a first for a state transportation unit in the country. The bus does two rounds daily. It leaves Bangalore for Mysore at 6 am on the first trip and 1.45 pm on the second trip. The departing timings in Mysore are 10 am and 6 pm. The bus departs from the Kempe Gowda Bus Station (Majestic Bus Station). The bus fare is Rs.225 from Bangalore to Mysore.

The newly designed bus was launched by Transport Minister R Ashoka which will ply between Bangalore and Mysore for three months on a trail. The free trial operation is likely to be extended on an inter-state schedule from Bangalore to Chennai and Mumbai. Drivers for the bus were specially trained at a centre in Pune.

Each  bus costs Rs 65 lakh and has full air suspension, ergonomically designed passenger seats, twin-LCD screens, four emergency exits and other international standard features.
