Orissa that had recently announced a new tourism policy for the state will soon be finalized within a month by the state tourism department. The much-anticipated tourism policy once implemented is expected to draw huge number of investors in the tourism sector and promote tourism in a big way.
"We will finalize the new tourism policy within a month. Discussions have already been held with all the stakeholders and we have got the feedback from a couple of departments of the state government. After the finalization of the tourism policy, we will shortly be placing it before the State Cabinet for approval", Santosh Sarangi, secretary (tourism and culture), Orissa government said.
With a view to encourage investments on tourism infrastructure in Orissa, the state tourism department is now mulling to offer investment subsidy on different tourism projects. The investment subsidy scheme which has been incorporated in the draft tourism policy of the state would focus on the scale of investments and also on the regions where the tourism projects come up.
Meanwhile, East Coast Railway (ECR) that functions at Orissa’s capital Bhubaneswar has decided to run Puja Special trains towards Bangalore and Tirupati from Puri & Bhubaneswar respectively.
