Asia’s first river themed park ‘River Safari’ will be open to the public in early 2010. River Safari located in Mandai, Singapore is touted to be the world’s first and only river-themed park and expected to attract at least 820,000 visitors every year.
River Safari will feature Nile River, Yangtze River, Mississippi, Amazon and even the frozen river of Tundra where visitors can enjoy boat rides and soak in the freshwater habitats of these famous rivers. Visitors would need to pay an admission fee of $28 to $30 to enter the park, which would be kept open from 9am to 9pm once it becomes operational.
The park will showcase 300 plant species and 500 animal species. These include creatures like the anaconda, electric eel and a 350kg Mekong river catfish.
Besides, River Safari in collaboration with the China Wildlife Conservation Association will be also be a home to the Giant Pandas from China when they arrive by the third quarter of 2011. The park will be the third nature-themed attraction after the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari.
