Sector 17 piazza is no more just the commercial hub of Chandigarh for it will soon turn into a venue for multimedia laser show. The center famous for indulging in retail therapy will be synchronized with musical fountains at the existing water feature near the raised platform opposite Neelam Theatre. To guide the visitors, there will be touch-screen display facility along with information kiosks put up.
“With an aim to give piazza a facelift, the municipal corporation is working on a detailed plan, which envisages putting up of new benches and dim lights. The neglected areas of Sector 17 are also being spruced up. A child’s play corner will be developed near the narrow bridge and public conveniences will be provided at different points,” said Ram Nivas, Home secretary, Chandigarh.
The government will be spending an estimate amount of Rs. 3.5 Crore on the laser show which promises to be visually appealing and offer a complete entertainment to the visitors. The heritage buildings will be illuminated after the sunset and the leisure valley besides having the replica of Eiffel tower will also have ‘Paris by night’ under the night tourism concept.
