‘Emirates’ is all set to increase its flight operations from Kerala, with Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode being the main focus.

‘Emirates’, the international airline of United Arab Emirates, has now decided to fly more over the Kerala sky. In a bid to increase its operations out of this south Indian state, Emirates will add more flights to its existing flight schedule. In a statement by airline officials, it was conveyed that the addition would be from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, while the number of flights from Kochi will remain the same, at 14 per week. These changes will be visible by the coming December.

 

The weekly frequency of flights from Thiruvananthapuram will rise to 12, from the current frequency of 8; whereas Kozhikode will witness the increase of 5 flights over the existing 6 and the total will be 11 flights in a week. Asha Subramanian, Emirates Sales Manager for South Kerala, said that airline had seen a promising growth of 25-30 percent from the state, since its operation in 2006. She said that in the new schedule, the seating capacity would rise to 3,300 per week to the current 2,200 per week.

 

‘Emirates’has not only enhanced its operation, but also structured some attractive fares for its customers. A return economy class ticket to Dubai starts at Rs 16,820, London at Rs 23,555, New York at Rs 40,385 and Durban Rs 28,040, from Thiruvananthapuram and will be valid till November 30, 2009. With the increase in flight frequency, travelers from Kerala now have greater connectivity to major foreign destinations.
