Tourists in Goa will now be able to visit the famous Lamgao caves for it has been recently added to the Goa heritage circuit. The state government is also undertaking several initiatives to woo Japanese tourists considering Japan’s affinity with Buddhism.   Tourists will be able to reach Lamgao caves by journeying on the river and a jetty is being built at Pilgao village for this purpose. .
Goa is also chalking out plans of establishing a world-class golf course to woo more number of Japanese visitors. "The golf course could be a big draw to Japanese tourists wanting to relax here after a long pilgrimage. We have a couple of parties interested in setting up golf courses," said tourism director, Swapnil Naik.
Goa is dotted with many Buddhist caves like Bandora , Kudne, Arambol , Rivona and others. The addition of Lamgao caves which resembles Buddhist caves is expected to increase the arrivals especially the Japanese tourists who are viewed as big spenders.
“I think the government should add the Buddhist sites in Goa to the tourism map for such tourists and I will take up this matter with the minister,” said Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) president Gaurish Dhond.
