Mahé-based Air Seychelles airline that currently flies to a total of 8 destinations has now added a key Indian destination, Chennai to its network. The weekly service starting from November 1st will run on the Singapore route and will be operated by B767 200 aircraft. The flight will depart Mahé on Mondays, stopover in Chennai, before going onto Singapore. It will leave Singapore on Wednesdays and return to Mahé again via Chennai.
The national airline that recently acquired landing rights with the Chennai authorities to operate the weekly service decided to introduce the new move following persistent requests from the increased number of arrivals from the Indian subcontinent and the demand from the local Indian community.
Meanwhile, the carrier has chosen Chennai-based general sales agent, Global Aviation Services, to handle its sales in the Indian destination, which sees quite a lot of traffic to and from Seychelles. The new route is bound to witness a strong market as many Seychellois travel to Chennai for medical and other purposes, including business transactions, and with many workers of Indian origin coming into Seychelles from and around the Chennai area. The carrier besides expanding its destinations folio, has also enhanced some elements of its in-flight product and services to benefit passengers.
