The famous Godwad region of Rajasthan has been recently added as the new tourism circuit in the state. Godwad, meaning root of hills, falls under 3 western districts i.e. Pali, Jalore and Sirohi on the western foothills of Aravali. The place has been a major tourist attraction for all those who want to catch a glimpse of Jain temples such as Ranakpur Temple, Barkana temple, Ghanerao and also to experience the rich tribal life in Aravali along with the wildlife and thick forest of Kumbhalgarh sanctuary.
“We have been exploring the opportunity of developing this region as it falls between Udaipur and Jodhpur circuit. With the development of facilities for tourists, this area has the potential to become a preferred tourist site with various attractions like temples and also adventure tourisms,” said Prithiviraj, the district collector of Pali.
The state government has recently sanctioned Rs 25 lakh for developing tourist facilities in the area. Besides, government has also decided to include the famous Solana Khetlaji fair in the calendar of events of Rajasthan tourism.
