The legendary Bengal Nagpur Railway (BNR) Hotel in Puri, Orissa owned by Delhi-based Sujata hotels group has undergone renovation and now rechristened as Chanakya BNR Hotel.

The legendary Bengal Nagpur Railway (BNR) Hotel in Puri, Orissa owned by Delhi-based Sujata hotels group has undergone renovation and now rechristened as Chanakya BNR Hotel. The Group had started the renovation work of the hotel in mid 2008, which spanned for 18 months. The hotel which will have thematic railway names has 37 sea facing rooms.
Akhil Kochhar, Vice President (development), Sujata Hotels Group said, “The experience in renovating and restoring this heritage project has been challenging. Our company had set some aggressive deadlines and goals for this property’s renovation.”
Set up in 1902, this heritage hotel was quite a regular halt for many famous celebrities like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, celebrated economist and US ambassador to India J K Galbraith, Biju Patnaik, former Chief Minister, Orissa, Filmmaker Satyajit Ray Music Director S D Burman and many others.
