The national capital is likely to get an Airport Village as Delhi International Airport (DIAL) has planned to come up with such a project near terminal III. DIAL is a consortium of GMR Group, AAI, Fraport, Eraman Malaysia and India Development Fund (an IDF-AMC managed fund). The proposed plan was revealed by Arun Arora, associate VP (Corporate Communications) for GMR-DIAL. Informing more about the Airport Village, Arora said that DIAL has taken the recent decision in order to utilise the airport land available for commercial purpose.

Stressing the point that Airport Village idea is at a nascent stage, Arun Arora informed that the proposed project will accommodate a multiplex, entertainment zone, F&B outlets, shopping arcade with multi-level car parks. Apart from these, the Airport Village will also organise such activities that showcase Indian culture. According to Arora, the main goal of DIAL is to develop the airport as a tourist destination. After the inauguration of Airport Village at Delhi International Airport, people going to receive or drop someone at the airport will be able to enjoy the new experience.

Talking about the financial details of the project, Arora informed that there is a plan to open bid for companies to set their shops in the village on long-term lease. He assured to execute the procedure in due course of time. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Airport Express Line which is currently under construction can also help people to access the Airport Village.
