Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, a global hotel brand that currently runs 2 hotels in Malaysia, is planning to expand its brand by opening up more properties in the popular key cities of Malaysia. Hyatt that currently operates a total of 618-rooms will be launching a new hotel ‘Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’ in downtown Kuala Lumpur, which is slated to open in the first quarter of 2012. 
 “We are also looking at establishing a presence in Penang, Malacca, Langkawi and Johor Baru,” Hyatt Hotels and Resorts' area vice president Willi B Martin said. Today, Hyatt operates the 330-room Hyatt Regency Kuantan in Pahang and the 288-room Hyatt Regency Kinabalu in Sabah.
"The Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt brand are well suited for key gateway cities such as Kuala Lumpur and the Park Hyatt brand could also be located in high yielding leisure destinations such as Langkawi, "With our renovated properties in Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu and with the opening of Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur we will be able to contribute to the growth in tourism and business related demand," Martin added.
