Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), one of Asia’s largest and finest hotel companies that currently operate 12,000 rooms across the globe under various brands, is aiming to increase its hotel rooms to 20,000 globally by the end of 2013. The new rooms will be added to its premium and upper upscale brands.
IHCL and its subsidiaries collectively known as ‘Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces’ operates under various brands like Taj (luxury full-service hotels, resorts and palaces), Taj Exotica (resort and spa brand), Taj Safaris (wildlife lodges), The Gateway Hotel (upscale/mid-market full service hotels and resorts) and Ginger (economy hotels). Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces comprises 64 hotels in 45 locations across India with an additional 15 international hotels.
Veer Vijay Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Premium Hotels, IHCL said, “We will be adding around 8,000 rooms to the existing room inventory by the end of 2013 globally. However, we plan to add nine premium hotels in India in the next one year. Of these, three resorts will be set up in Bekal (Kerala), Srinagar (J&K) and Coorg (Karnataka) and three hotels in Delhi and NCR: Gurgaon, Dwarka, Shahdara; one each in Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Hyderabad. However, these hotels will be added in the premium brand.”
