The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned a mega tourism project in Agra under the scheme for Product/Infrastructure Development for Destination and Circuits. An estimated amount of Rs 19.76 crore has been sanctioned for the components including Development of Shahjahan Park, Interpretation Centre, Public Conveniences, Taj Nature Walk and many more, as a part of this mega project. In addition to this, a Sound and Light Show will be set up at Agra Fort for an amount of Rs 1.70 crore and also  Rural Tourism Project has been sanctioned in village Barara for Rs 0.41 crore.
Agra is a heavenly abode to many beautiful tourist attractions like Fatehpur Sikri, Taj Mahal-one of the wonders of the world, Agra Fort (Red Fort), Itmad - Ud - Daula, Chini ka Rauza, Sikandra Fort and many others.  Promotion, implementation and monitoring of tourism projects are usually headed by the state governments, however, the MoT will be providing Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for tourism projects which are identified in consultation with the State Government.
