The tourism department of Sikkim is all smiles these days! The detailed project reports that they submitted to construct 3 helipads in Sikkim, have been recently sanctioned and two more proposals are under considerations.
SBS Bhadauria, Tourism Secretary of Sikkim said that the proposed sites for construction of helipads are: Chemchey, Hilley, Uttaray, Rangpo and Mangan. He also added that the state tourism department is planning to put up more helipads in the state at Ranipool and Kaluk-Ringchenpong area.
These helipad sites in these areas would help the tourists in huge way and serve their needs. It would also aide local inhabitants where business and revenue can be generated. The helicopter service and helipads are being developed not just to boost tourism sector but also to serve as common mode of transportation in time of natural disasters like landslides and earthquakes. The construction of each helipad would be about Rs 75 lakh.
