Sri Lanka tourism received a US$18 million boost from the World Bank (WB) for technical aid, to develop infrastructure and to expand Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).  
The project with a maturity period of 20 years will not only provide technical assistance but will also fund to all 5 tourism bodies of Lanka, which includes the Ministry of Tourism, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and Sri Lanka Conventions Bureau. The project aims at strengthening the institutional framework for the tourism sector to facilitate environmentally and socially sound investments, particularly in the eastern region.
