Goa is all set to organize its first-ever International Travel Mart (ITM) in Panaji on October 14-17. The expo to be organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) will mainly showcase Goa’s travel and tourism industry highlighting Hinterland Tourism. Around 100 stalls and about 80- 100 hosted buyers are expected to be the part of the expo whose theme will be ‘Rediscover Goa’.
“We want to highlight the hinterland of Goa which is highly unexplored. The destination has varied variety of offerings and tourism products which will be highlighted at ITM- Goa 2010,” said Richard Dias, Head–Business Development, Radioactiv Entertainment, the official marketing agency of ITM- Goa.
The expo is being supported by Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
About 35 exhibitors and 15 international buyers have already confirmed their participation for the event. These include state tourism boards of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. National Tourist Offices of Dubai and Thailand have also shown interest to participate at the event. “We are targeting suppliers from South East Asia and Middle East with the ease in connectivity to these regions from Goa and the high frequency of inbound and outbound travel movement to these locations,” added Dias.
