The first government website on one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal was finally unveiled on 22nd July by Uttar Pradesh’s director general of tourism and secretary tourism, Ananeesh Kumar Awashti. The website, www.tajmahal.gov.in gives an insight on the panoramic views, along with complete historical background, timings and ticket rates of Taj Mahal. Efforts are also being made to incorporate Urdu and Hindi versions.
The interesting website will not only answer questions but also provide solutions to many problems that tourists face. According to tourism officials, other famous monuments like Fatehpur Sikri, Sikandra, Etmauddaula and Agra Fort too will soon have their own websites.
The historical background given on the website provides some fresh and interesting insight into the monument's architectural styles. The Taj Mahal complex mainly consists of the main gateway, symmetrically planned garden, mosque, rest house, and Taj Mahal mausoleum. Taj Mahal which became a UNESCO world heritage site in the year 1983 attracts about 2 to 4 million visitors per annum. The architectural marvel that stands majestically on the banks of river Yamuna is synonymous with love and romance.
