The Punjab government in order to boost the state’s tourism sector is all set to replicate the ‘Ahmedabad Heritage Walk’, an initiative launched by Gujarat government for the promotion of the tourism industry. Plans have been chalked out to launch ‘Heritage Walk’ in Amritsar and Patiala in due course of time. Besides, Gurgaon, the sixth largest city of Haryana is all set to host ‘Gurgaon Shopping Festival’ which is expected to kick start on September 27th.
Meanwhile, TTF (Travel and Tourism Fair) in Ahmedabad which recently concluded witnessed 15,000 visitors attending the three-day exhibition, up from 12,000 last year. Adel Masry, Director, Egyptian Tourist Office, India, said, “India is one of the top tourist markets for travel industry in Egypt. Apart from the culture tourism, Egypt now also offers some other kind of tourism such as marine tourism & wellness tourism.”
TTF supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), and other similar trade bodies  will now move to Surat (August, 27-29) . In the first quarter of 2011, TTF will head to Chennai and Bangalore (January 2011) and later to Mumbai and New Delhi (February 2011).
