Thailand Receives 7,515,025 Visitor Arrivals In First Half Of 2010

Thailand that boasts of famous tourist attractions like Patong Beach, Koh Chang Thailand, Krabi Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Chang and others received a total of 7,515,025 visitor arrivals in the first half of this year thus registering a growth of 13.70 per cent in total arrivals. Figures revealed by Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports in January-June, showed total arrivals by nationality of 7,515,025 up from 6,609,313 or up 13.70 per cent over the same period of 2009.
The arrivals in June and July have been significantly positive due to the launch of recovery programmes and broad range of promotional packages. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officials are optimistic that it will be possible to meet the year’s total arrivals target of 14.5 million arrivals.
East Asian visitor arrivals to Thailand comprise the biggest market share of all visitors. Of the 7.5 million arrivals in January-June, a total of 3.67 million were from the East Asia region. Malaysia topped the list with 930,660 arrivals, followed by Japan 475,386, China 471,462, and Korea 382,394. Meanwhile, the Thailand airline industry is introducing more flights to key markets like Japan, Singapore, China and India to woo more number of travelers to its country.
