Saputara hill station located in the "Dang" district of southern tip of Gujarat will soon be turned into a major tourism hub. A master plan for developing Saputara has been drafted by The Research and Design Cell Faculty of Architecture, Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology (SCET), Surat and work has already commenced for the first phase of the plan.
While the first phase of the plan ( component A) includes development and up gradation of existing locations like the town centre, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Governor’s Hill and existing lake , the second phase ( component B) comprises of creating a new lake, tribal experience trail, wildlife centre, various parks (amusement park, water park, theme park), mini golf course, hotels, resorts, shopping and entertainment complexes, food courts and restaurants, various institutes (sports and adventure, arts and crafts) among others.
Prof. Persi Engineer, Professor& Head-Architecture, Vice Principal, SCET, said: “The aim of the master plan is to develop a world class tourism destination that is: ecologically sustainable, culturally relevant and offers leisure activities catering to wide range of tourists. The master plan has identified areas and designated them as Tourism Development Zones in order to enhance existing tourist spots in and around Saputara.”
