India’s leading infrastructure holding company, GMR Infrastructure Limited (GIL) has bagged the MIA (Male International Airport) project that is slated to be completed by 2014. GMR that won the project in a keenly contested international bid process will build, operate, modernize and expand the Male airport in Maldives. The Infrastructure Company is also eyeing new projects in the SAARC region, Western Africa and the Middle East.
P. Sripathy, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) said: “GMR had partnership going with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and would also tap international funding. MIA is a profitable boutique airport with its tourism potential and exponential growth in passenger movement and a high revenue model.”
