Madhya Pradesh (MP) is getting all geared up to develop at least one ecospot in every district in an attempt to popularize the relatively new concept of eco tourism. Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board (MPEDB) has so far identified 35 places in the state for developing them as ecotourism spots.
“Work at four-five places has already started. We have also moved a proposal worth Rs 35 crore to the state government for getting funds from the Centre in this regard," Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Forests, M K Rai said.
MPEDB had previously invited bids for design, development, operation and maintenance of an Ecotourism Island Park on NH7, MP. The Ecotourism Board places like Kerva near Bhopal, Choral near Indore, Dhoopgarh near Pachmarhi, Chambal Safari, Gangulpara near Balaghat and Delabadi Jungle Camp in Sehore districts as ecotourism spots. Work is on to develop Ralamandal at Indore, Madan Mahal at Jabalpur and Samardha near Bhopal as ecotourism spots.
Madhya Pradesh blessed with rich and diverse forest resources is dotted with many eco tourism spots like Pachmarhi, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Satpura Hills, Tigra Lake, Upper Lake and numerous others.
