The Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) in collaboration with the District Administration will soon launch an exclusive ‘Go Camping 2010’, event in Madhya Pradesh (MP) by October. For this purpose, the Corporation has already identified 12 prospective sites for the camp.
Hari Ranjan Rao, Managing Director, MPSTDC said, “Go Camping 2010 will be a major thrust area to develop tourism and increase the tourist arrivals in the state. The bookings for the same will be made available via MP Tourism website. We want to strongly promote MP as an adventure destination. However, for the camp, we have identified locations including Bhopal, Pachmarhi, Mandu, Orchha, Jabalpur, Tamia, Amarkantak, Shahdol, Dewas, Panna, Bhind and Pench.”
MPSTDC is chalking out plans to train local youth who could be prospective employees for adventure tour operators. MPSTDC will also develop 3 circuits — Shivpuri-Orchha-Khajuraho, Bhopal-Tawa -Pachmarhi and Indore- Mandu-Maheshwar to promote Caravan Tourism and this project will take off in 3 months.
In addition, MPSTDC will set up convention centres in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior. “We expect to have a state-of-art international convention centre being owned and managed by MPSTDC in Bhopal. The convention centre will be operational in the next two years,” added Hari Rao.
