In India
With its high Himalayas that give rise to mighty
rivers, snow covered peaks, green and thick forests, fragrant blooms and
paradisiacal orchards, trekking in India, is a delightful experience.
Views and adventure is at its best in Sikkim as the visitors come close
to nature on one of the mountain treks of the region. Chhang is the
local liquor of the region made of fermented millet and is said to be
the total solution to all the tiredness and weariness of the eventful
days. Said to be the 'Valley of Fire', Sikkim or Denjong has some of the
finest treks including the one into the Kanchenjunga group, the third
highest mountain in the world. Seems to be floating above the clouds,
fog and mist helps in making the divine panoramic surroundings seem
surrealistic. Beautiful monasteries and Gompas add color to the white
surroundings of Leh and Ladakh treks. Sharing history, culture and treks
with Tibet, Ladakh seems to have unchanged over the years. Treks to
Zanskar offer glimpses of Tibetan Buddhism and colorful lifestyle of the
region.
The Indus Valley region lies in the lap of Himalayas, is full of
wilderness and some of the some of the least explored treks of Ladakh.
It is recommendable as it has a motorable road at hand and includes
three major monastries in its course, namely, Likkir, Rizong and
Tamisgang monasteries. Alpine trees are the love of the trekkers as are
the beautiful flower meadows that can be seen occasionally. The
beautiful and bright colored wildflowers pass for a beautiful carpet
ready to welcome all the visitors. India has some of the best, highest
and most adventurous passes in the world such as Baralacha La pass at a
height of 4,800 m above sea level. There are hot springs too. Zanskar is
the most famous region for trekking in India. However, there good treks
in Himachal Pradesh too. There are base camps that serve to help and
provide facilities for the trekkers that are on their way to scale the
heights.
