Hiking in Nepal

Situated in the lap of Himalayas, Nepal has over 1300 peaks that are between 5500 meters (18,090 ft) and 8848m (29,028ft) above sea level. This makes Nepal, a paradise for peak climbers and hikers. Scaling these peaks is a lifetime experience. Once you scale these peaks, the ones at Ural and Mount Olympus looks like mere hillocks. There are government agencies that have rights to issue permits and passes. Since 1978, the Nepal Mountaineering Association popularly called NMA has had the authority to issue climbing permits for peaks. Though, if you opt for good agencies then the paper work is not a headache. Hiking is a very dangerous activity. Therefore NMA has strict guidelines for the agencies operating in Nepal.
